About Ellen

A native of the East Coast and graduate of Harvard University, my path to becoming a therapist was an unusual one. I first worked in advertising, went on to start a small business, and then helped launch a new high school while raising a family. These experiences have definitely given me a unique perspective with clients.

But I always felt drawn back to the pursuit of psychology, so I eventually returned to school to get my master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University. From the beginning, I was particularly interested in eating disorders and the accompanying mood and anxiety disorders, most likely because I myself had struggled with an eating disorder…as had my mother and daughter. This helped me truly understand the process of recovery.

For my clinical training, I worked as a therapist at a residential treatment facility for women struggling with eating disorders and drug/alcohol addiction. In addition, I spent thousands of hours counseling individuals, couples and families in community mental health care facilities. My work included clients of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, substance abuse and difficult life transitions.

“I have never been one to follow through on things, and you have helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. You are truly gifted at what you do.” –N.
