My Approach

My Approach

Just as no two clients are alike, no two therapists have the same approach or style. What’s most important is that you feel comfortable, safe and supported by your therapist…and secure in the knowledge that she/he has the appropriate experience and training to meet your needs.

I believe everyone has within him/herself the abilities and resources to create positive change. But when you’re in distress, it can be difficult to find these strengths within yourself and utilize them in support of your healing.

I’ll help you uncover these inner strengths and develop a “toolbox” of healthy coping skills to address whatever problems are bringing you into therapy, whether it be anxiety, depression, addiction, an eating disorder or a difficult life transition.

-Jon Kabat-Zinn

My approach is tailored to each individual client. Typically, I draw upon a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral (identifying and challenging the thoughts that lead to distressing emotions and behaviors), psychodynamic (exploring how past experiences affect present states), and solution-focused (building on strengths to form solutions). I also incorporate mindfulness exercises when appropriate as a way to achieve calm and balance.

If you’re wondering if I’m the right therapist for you, or if therapy can help, I hope you’ll contact me for an initial consultation so we can discuss your personal concerns.
